I recall the time when I went through a divorce many years ago. My stress levels were so high that I could feel my adrenaline flow through my veins like the current of a white water rafting trip on a tumultuous river.
I was losing a pound a day. I thought that was great – I could finally be a size 2. My new found slimness lasted for an hour and a half. My modeling dreams were banished as soon as my situation stabilized and ten pounds crawled back on. The new clothes that I had purchased for my short-lived gaunt figure collected dust in my closet for the next 18 years.
If only I had known about stress busters and head rolls!
Hang your head forward as if it were a heavy ball, and then move it slowly to the side, back, side and front. Repeat. Circle around twice in the opposite direction.
Note- I did not say, “Hang your head in shame!” So don’t go there – no matter how stupid you might be feeling due to one of the thousand painful situations you might be in right now.
Actually, head rolls were one of the many exercises I learned as a theater major. Many speakers and entertainers do these exercises to relax before a performance.
